In Thailand, golf is woven into business life. Client rounds, company golf days and weekend games with colleagues are common across many industries, for both Thai professionals and the city's large expat business community. If you have been avoiding invitations because you do not play, now is a good time to start.
What You Really Need
You do not need to be a great golfer to enjoy business golf. You need to:
- Hit the ball forward reasonably consistently
- Keep up with the pace of play
- Understand basic etiquette, including how to work with your caddie
- Stay relaxed enough to enjoy the conversation
The Challenge: Time and Traffic
For most Bangkok professionals, the biggest obstacle is time. Driving ranges can be a long journey, practice is at the mercy of the weather and weekends are already busy.
GOLFTEC Bangkok is at W District on Sukhumvit Road, making it easy to fit a focused lesson in before work, during the day or on the way home, in a climate-controlled bay.
A Plan to Get Course-Ready
- Start with an assessment to understand your starting point and set a realistic goal.
- Build a reliable long game with a club you trust off the tee.
- Learn a simple short game. Chips and putts save more shots than anything else.
- Learn the etiquette, including caddie customs and pace of play.
- Play a practice round before your first business round.
Arrive With Confidence
